My anxiety has been heightened the last few days. While I try to sort out all of the contributing factors, I pulled out a few of my favorite trusty quotes that affirm my strength to get through the times that feel awful. I wanted to share them with you too. I’ve printed these and taped them on the cabinet doors above my computer. Feel free to do the same!

My five favorite quotes to remind you that life isn’t always awful:

1. Life is breathtakingly beautiful.

“Life is amazing. And then it’s awful. And then it’s amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful, it’s ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That’s just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful.” ~L.R. Knost

2. Hold On

“The minute you think of giving up, think of the reason why you held on so long.” ~Unknown

3. I will try again tomorrow

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, (whispering), ‘I will try again tomorrow.'” ~Mary Anne Radmacher

4. Feel better

“You will feel better than this, maybe not yet, but you will. You just keep living until you are alive again.” ~Call the Midwife

5. Track record for getting through bad days

“On particularly rough days when I’m sure I can’t possibly endure, I like to remind myself that my track record for getting through bad days so far is 100%. And that’s pretty good.” ~Unknown
