Why I’ve Joined Usborne Books & More

When the Usborne Books & More books arrived for Patrick’s Christmas Books, Lloyd and I spent a significant amount of time going through the books and taking a peek at each one. We absolutely fell in love with each book. I had wanted to spend some time looking at them to see if there were a few we might want to get for Stitch down the road, and, well, we pretty much wanted all of them.

We love books in our house; I don’t think that’s a big secret. Children’s literature and comic books were one of the first connections that Lloyd and I made when we met. Some day we hope to publish one or many of our own children’s books. In the meantime, we fill our house full of books.

After the success of Patrick’s Christmas Books, we saw an opportunity, and I’ve become an Usborne Books & More consultant. I have a few goals with this new venture:

1. To earn income for our family.

I feel truly blessed to be able to stay home with Stitch. There is no place I’d rather be right now. I also volunteer extensively with Pregnancy After Loss Support (PALS) as their Operations Director. In order to keep these two priorities (staying home and volunteering at PALS), I need a part-time venture to bring in some money so we can have a little cushion in our budget, as well as be able to do things like swimming lessons and other adventures as a family.

2. To continue to build our family’s library of books.

The consistent quality of these books astounds me. They’re developmentally appropriate, beautiful, well-written, and artfully illustrated. They have fiction and non-fiction, and I’m so excited to bring these books into our home for Stitch.

3. To help others build their family’s libraries.

Every child should have access to a plethora of books as they grow. I can’t go into all of the benefits here…there are just too many. Books are essential. One of the areas in which I want to specialize is Baby Showers, especially Rainbow Baby Showers. I look forward to working with pregnant mamas to fill their homes with books for their new babes.

4. To help other families host projects like Patrick’s Christmas Books.

Projects like Patrick’s Christmas books, where families collect and earn free books that they can donate to schools, hospitals, day cares, etc. in their children’s names. These projects will be near and dear to my heart.

I share this all with you so you can be a part of this journey and support these goals. Please like and follow my Facebook page, Usborne Books & More with Valerie Meek, and join my VIP group for all the latest news, customer and host specials, and special projects. After the launch of my Grand Opening, all of my news will be available on those pages. I want the focus of Meek Manor to remain on the joys and challenges of family life after loss. But, this venture is highly influenced by our loss experience, so I wanted to share it with you all and invite you to join us.

Stay tuned for info about my Grand Opening party!
